School Supply List
Led design for a two-week, zero-to-launch project that redefined back-to-school shopping at Meijer. I designed & shipped to customers a cross-platform experience (iOS, Android, Web) that let parents load an entire school supply list into their cart with one click—whether shopping in-store or online.

Background
Meijer licensed a one-season trial of a nationwide database and API of school supply lists from TeacherLists.
Unsure whether customers would adopt it or if it would drive revenue, the business team challenged us to deliver the leanest possible proof-of-concept. Success would be measured by three key metrics: revenue generated, adoption rate, and flow completion rate.
Right before School Supply List, I worked with engineers on Recipe Hub—a recipe and cart builder for iOS powered by AI.
Design insights from that project shaped my approach here.

Insights taken from Recipe Hub:
-
Despite pressure to keep the MVP lean, I advocated strongly for this feature which proved transformative—driving a 25% lift in flow completion and a 40% increase in cart size after launch.
-
Even with something as specific as recipes, most users rarely customized, so the feature didn’t justify the design emphasis or engineering effort it received.
-
Recorded user sessions and analytics showed the homepage design worked—users immediately grasped the next step and engaged the flow.
An efficient & collaborative process — as it always should be
With only two weeks to launch, I quickly delivered step-by-step wireframes aligned with the API so engineers could begin building the core flow and features (like “add all to cart”). This bought me time to finalize visual design and components.

The Result: A Runaway Success
School Supply List proved itself with millions of dollars in new sales for the back-to-school season and saving tens of thousands of hours for busy families through a seamless & streamlined shopping experience.
Fast to market, intuitive to use, and impossible to ignore. The design was so effective it relaunched in 2025 unchanged.
